Lighting Transformers are used to reduce the normal 240v down to 12v and are available in either electronic or toroidal versions. Electronic have the benefit of size and are cool running where as toroidal transformers are heavier and bulkier but can have the benefit of being IP rated. To know which transformers to use, simply add the wattages together of the intended lights for use and this will give a total for the transformer required. Ballasts are required for the running of either HQI or CDM lamps.
